Since his inauguration on January 20, 2025, President Trump has taken several measures impacting Latin America. In particular, he surprised all his trading partners by implementing a highly protectionist trade policy for national security purposes with a 10% tariff on all imports. Although suspended until early July, additional tariffs by partners up to 49% shook the financial markets and triggered great uncertainty. China, for its part, saw tariffs of over 140% imposed.
