The world economy faces very serious challenges!
President Trump’s tariff policy and trade agreements with several countries are redefining international trade relations. To bring trade deficits down, the United States is charging tariffs on its partners and requires a better access to their markets for its exports. In addition, the United States requires large investments in plants to reindustrialize the country.
The United States has also used threats of high tariffs to exert political pressure on non-trade related issues with countries such as Brazil, Colombia, and several EU countries on Greenland.
This reshaping of globalization and value chains is a process that started with the COVID crisis. What are some of the implications for Latin America?
