Brazil and Mexico are among the largest economies in the world with more than 340 million people and a young population. Their potential is undisputed. Swiss firms are well positioned with significant investments and a strong trade relationship. A free trade agreement with Mexico and negotiations concluded with Brazil last August point to attractive framework conditions. This webinar will look at how key Swiss economic sectors react to the present crisis and plan for the future in Brazil and Mexico.

Philippe Praz, Head of Swiss Business Hub, Brazil
Graduated in public administration, Philippe Praz joined the Consular Service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (EDA/DFAE) in Switzerland in 1986. After several posting in Europe and South America as Consular employee, Philippe Praz was designated Head of Chancery and Cultural affairs from 2004 to 2008 at the Swiss Embassy in Ottawa. From 2008 to 2012 he was appointed Head of the Commercial Service at the Embassy in Rom.
In 2012 he was in charge to open the Swiss Business Hub Italy in Milan and acted as Director of this entity. Since September 2016 he is Director of the Swiss Business Hub, Brazil, based in Sao Paulo. The Swiss Business Hub Brazil is the official agency of the Swiss Government, aiming to strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations and has competency for the entire Brazil.
Rubén Araiza Díaz, Head of Swiss Business Hub, Mexico
Ruben is a polyglote with a Master in Business Administration (MBA) and a Professional with over 15 years of experience developing International Business, Trade, Export promotion, Market entrance and Logistics with strength in B2B sales and a solid record to manage and motivate teams. He worked in diverse international companies developing international business such as; DHL Global Forwarding, American Express, United Pacific Distribution Services, etc. He worked in some universities such as; Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), Instituto Politécnico Nacional, (IPN), Universidad del Valle de México (UVM) and recently was invited to teach at IBERO University in Mexico City.
He joined the Consular Service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (EDA/DFAE) in 2012. During 8 years he has been leading the Swiss Business Hub for whole Mexico along with a group of 50 experts in different sectors.

Philippe G. Nell, Honorary Ambassador LATCAM
Philippe G. Nell is University Lecturer on trade, investment and integration policy as well as negotiating techniques, and Honorary Ambassador of LATCAM. Until October 2019, he was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Bilateral Economic Affairs and Head of the Americas Unit at the Swiss Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research. He held the diplomatic title of Minister. Previously, he dealt with WTO matters (1999-2004) in charge i.a. of investment and China’s accession to the WTO; Rules of origin, Customs matters and Government Procurement (1992-1999), and the European Area Agreement Negotiations (1988-1992).
Mr. Nell holds a Ph. D from the Graduate School of International Studies of the University of Denver and Masters from the Universities of Fribourg, Carleton (Ottawa) and Denver. He is Privat Docent at the University of Fribourg where he dispenses courses. He has published numerous articles on trade and integration policy as well as a book on Swiss-EU negotiations for the European Economic Area.
