The invasion of Ukraine by Russia has huge consequences on the world economy with i.a. a lower growth rate, higher inflation and several serious crises. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) seeks to fulfil its objective of “Better Policies for Better Lives” and to contribute to alleviating some of the major international crises, such as the refugee crisis, the food crisis and the energy crisis. The importance of the OECD for Latin America has significantly grown over the past years with the OECD Regional Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean, country surveys, memberships (Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica) as well as accession negotiations (Argentina, Brazil, Peru).
LATCAM had the privilege to hold an in-presence event with as our guest of honor and discussion partner Angel Gurría former Secretary-General of the OECD. The dialogue entitled OECD, the Russia-Ukraine war and Latin America was moderated by Dr. Philippe G. Nell, Honorary Ambassador of LATCAM. Linda Walker von Graffenried, Vice-President of LATCAM and a personal friend of Mr. Gurría, made the introduction.
The discussion was followed by a networking lunch in the presence of Mr. Gurría.
LATCAM thanks its Patron Swiss Re for generously providing the venue and hosting the lunch.
